A lot of us go way back with Derek.  We played football together at Byrd Jr. High.  Derek's father was one of the cooler coaches.

I'll always regret being a little ignorant at the time to different life-styles.  Seems like I hardly said anything to Derek during High School.  Sorry pal.  Hope you're in a better place.

I can't leave this page without saying that Derek was the first boy I ever kissed!  Yep, 7th grade dance at Byrd Junior High School!  He was so cute!  Rest in peace, friend!

Derek will always have a special place in my heart. We have many family photo's with Derek in them and all of our kids have heard many fond childhood stories of us with Derek ...  He is truly missed.

In addition to so many things, Derek... thanks again for helping me get Mom's brand new Lincoln back in the garage when my folks were out of town! I would have never done it without you!

I had no idea that Derek left us. I knew him my entire 'school' career...he was a great guy and always said the kindest things to me...rest in peace my friend.

Derek was a fiercely loyal person and friend.  I was fortunate to know him up through my years at OSU following MHS. I lost touch but others were fortunate enough to know him longer.  I still have a pair of earrings that Derek and Jana gave me for my 19th birthday. I still think of him every time I wear them.

Derek was cremated and his father has his ashes.
